We were pleased to hear that yet again we achieved a GOLD AWARD in the Heart of England in Bloom competition. Congratulations to all groups in the town whose individual efforts combine to make such a great overall floral experience for residents and visitors alike. This year's theme was 'Edible' and the judges were impressed with the town allotments and the efforts of the Priors Park neighborhood vegetable garden project. Praise also went to Tewkesbury Town North beds, the Town Centre and the 1471 display.

The displays in the town have looked glorious during the summer and we hope that they will continue for a few more weeks. We have had some vandalism of tubs but have tried to rectify this by adding spare plants. Brian has been kept busy watering everything in the very dry weather. On Thursday this week we will hear the results of the Heart of England in Bloom Awards.

Our judging for the Heart of England in Bloom awards went well. In sweltering heat Roger Bache and Mark Wiltshire were given a tour around the town viewing Tewkesbury Allotments, Marina Court and Home Abbey Gardens, flower beds by the Black Bear at Victoria Gardens and 1471, baskets and coronets etc in Bishops Walk, the High Street, Church Street and Barton Street. At Victoria Gardens they were formally welcomed by the Town Crier. Then they were taken through Newtown to Alderman Knight School where they saw wildflower and vegetable gardens and spoke to pupils and staff. They finished by viewing the wheelbarrows which had been planted up by local school children using edible plants.

Next Tuesday morning (July 16th) we will be welcoming the judges from Heart of England in Bloom to view our floral displays. The tour will start at Marina Court and finish at Alderman Knight School where planted wheelbarrows will be on display that have been tended by local school children. We will then meet up at The Hop Pole from about 11.30am. If you are in the area please come in and join us.

Our tubs, planters and hanging baskets are beginning to bring a splash a summer colour to the town. Over the next few days we should see the transformation of the boats and beds. We are grateful to all those businesses and individuals who have sponsored displays this year. Do get in touch if you would like to help.

Pansies have been planted in some of the containers in the town to provide colour for the winter.
At Newtown the 2 trees that were removed for the drainage work to take place have been re-instated with a Rowan and a flowering Cherry. Newtown WI have planted a White Beam tree to mark the Queen's Jubillee year.
