We can highly recommend a gentle stroll to Victoria Gardens public park which enjoys open views across The Ham, an ancient water meadow and SSSI (site of special scientific interest). You'll find this tranquil haven next to the river Severn. You can approach it on foot via Mill Street (entrance opposite Tewkesbury Abbey's main gate or from Gloucester Road car park). It's a great venue for a picnic or grab an ice-cream and sit under the shade of a tree! There are occasional outdoor events and an open day every June.
No visit to Tewkesbury is complete without a visit to the town's Abbey www.tewkesburyabbey.org.uk. The town also offers a full calendar of exciting events throughout the year some of which are listed here The highlight being Europe's largest battle re-enactment event, the Medieval Festival taking place every second weekend in July. More information can be found on the website www.tewkesburymedievalfestival.org.
